Kindergarten Olympics

This past weekend the Winter Olympics began. The Olympics feature athletes from around the world that have trained their hardest in a single (or sometimes a few) events with the goal of being a gold medalist. On Monday I challenged the kids to work very hard over the next two weeks in a number of areas to earn a medal. I have created five areas which they can earn either a gold, silver, or bronze medal.

The Olympic theme is a hook that I wanted to try to get the kids to push themselves. The areas that they can earn medals in are

- High Frequency Words

- Book Reading

- Number Recognition

- Math Facts

- Handwriting

I sent home the criteria that I am using for each area. All students have the ability to earn a medal in every area. Please help your child with the things that come home.
