Catholic Schools Week

If there is one week out of the year that flies by with a blur, it is Catholic Schools Week. Here's a rundown of the activities. (Sorry for not posting pictures.)

Monday - The week started with a day of service. Our CSW (Cathlic Schools Week) team set up opportunities for our students to serve throughout the school, church, and community. The kids were split into multi-grade groups and sent out to work. My group went to the Yorkshire Playhouse. Other groups helped at York Adopt A Pet, the public library, the school, and a variety of other places. My group did a fantastic job. Kids were encouraged to dress up like a favorite character. This was also our official 100th Day of School.

Tuesday - This day was focused on learning. A Speech Contest and Geography Bee were for the older students, a Music Bee was led by Mrs. Ratcliffe for the younger groups. We played five rounds of a game that involved naming that tune. The dress-up theme for the day was "Career" day.

Wednesday - This was look alike day. It was also the most normal day of the week for our class. Three kids from Kindergarten dressed up with a tie to dress up like ME!

Thursday - We welcomed parents to join us on this day for lunch. Assorted pizzas and deserts highlighted the meal. In the afternoon the kids selected a movie to watch. About five movies were chosen. The dress up theme was "Comfy/Pajama Day".

Friday - This was St. Joseph Spirit Day; kids were encouraged to wear their school shirts to show off their school spirit. We spent time showing off skits in the gym to parents and our classmates. It was a also a shortened day.

Beyond these things, we also attended mass every day. Doing that was a good preview of what it will be like in First grade. We are now down to about 65 days left in the school year. With about 30 days left of school we will start going to mass every day. The week was very exhausting!
