Tuesday
Today we had a pretty good day after a long weekend. The kids did a good job working hard.
The first thing that we did was on IPad's. I taught them about the app, Skoolbo. The kids did a good job working step by step to set up their IPad so that they could use Skoolbo and now may also be able to use at home. I will see how things go and then consider sending login information home.
Our math lesson was about using the terms full, half, and empty. It was a pretty basic lesson with vocabulary words which they were already familiar with. Since we had our tools to measure things ready, I decided to see how long it would take to freeze a container of water outside. Four hours later there was a layer of ice at the top of the container. We are going to leave that container outside to see if it is frozen solid tomorrow morning.
We are on Lesson 3 in our Second Step curriculum. The lesson we have been working on emphasize things that good learners do with some strategies that they can try to help themselves to focus. I use puppets for my lesson; I have Snail and Puppy to help me with some of the lesson.
Because it is too cold to go outside for recess I gave the kids a choice of either watching a Magic Schoolbus video or freetime. The picture included shows our leader pulling sticks. As names are called, students come to the front and mark which they wanted. The Magic Schoolbus won.
