Turkey Hunting

Open season on turkeys began two weeks ago. Slowly each day hunters would come and find their Thanksgiving bird. In years past we have just had students disguise a turkey. This year I thought a hunt would add to the fun. Each day I came up with a new rhyme and would pull turkeys down from the walls. Some days I caught a lot of grief over which turkeys were removed, but overall the kids had lots of fun. Feel free to ask your student which turkey was the last one to come down? (By the way it was mine! :) ) Here is an example of one of my rhymes. Kids in First through fourth grade joined us in this part of the turkey disguises.

Some hunters like fresh bird for their Thanksgiving meal

Sprinkles or sparkles are now a big deal.

You shot for the stars and should feel you did great.

It’s not up to you to determine their fate.

The hour is late to get into my mind.

Tonight will be bad for many a kind.
